Meet the Artist

Beth Lowe, having transitioned from farm life, studied and graduated with a BA FA (HED) from the University of Stellenbosch and is now an avid plein air oil painter. Living in Kommetjie complements her practice, providing endless inspiration throughout the year. 

The essence of her practice lies in working from life and mostly on location. Drawn to the beauty that surrounds us and the excitement of being outdoors, despite the weather, she is inspired by the daily changes of light and shadows, the power of nature, and the evolving life around her. She seeks to play with merging edges and unexpected, delightful moments of light.

As an avid beachcomber, she collects interesting bits of flotsam and has been reexamining her collections to create larger watercolors and stitched artworks. She views her art as a journey and journal of her life, sketching and painting wherever she goes.
