Adrian Owen’s work as a fine art, portrait and figurative artist has almost always been centered on the structures of our shared experience. His creative process is based on raw experience and experimentation, and at times it is very methodical and technical. He is currently focusing on a new body of work that centers on a marriage between detailed portraiture and a measure of abstraction. Additionally, he freelances commercially as an illustrator in the publishing, advertising, film and television industries.

In 2021, he was one of four artists selected for the Nando’s Creative Exchange in partnership with Spier Arts Trust, an annual group art exhibition hosted at the AVA Gallery. This exhibition was first established in 2011 to recognise emerging South African fine artists who demonstrate exceptional ability.
