Ruth Le Roux, currently based in South Africa, first cultivated her painting practice in the creative environment of the San Francisco Bay Area. Her abstract paintings distill the essence of landscapes — mountains, rocks, plants, and water — into simplified forms that pulse with quiet energy. Drawing on a childhood spent hiking the mountains of Stellenbosch, and years walking the trails of Marin Valley, California, she expresses a deep attunement to place and presence through her work. She pairs expressive colour with meditative mark-making to create layered compositions that invite stillness and reflection.

Ruth’s work has been featured in numerous publications, including Architectural Digest, and is held in private and public collections around the world. She has participated in exhibitions and residencies throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
