Meet the Artist

Kim Black

After completing school, Kim Black initially studied graphic design but soon realised that painting was her true passion. She now primarily works with private clients, and her commissioned projects often involve large-scale works for interior designers. Her art is also exhibited in public spaces, including Vergelegen and the Mount Nelson, where her largest piece — a mural measuring 10m x 3.5m — can be found in the Oasis Room.

A lover of colour and driven by a desire to express freedom in her work, Black focuses on capturing the beauty of botanicals and occasionally interior spaces. Her aim is to convey a sense of liberation and joy through her use of vibrant colors. Working closely with interior designers, she is intrigued by the relationship between the spaces we inhabit and the art that influences us. Her paintings often feature bold colors and are magnified on large canvases, with large brushstrokes applied with a sense of playful abandon. Nature remains her primary source of inspiration.
