Meet the Artist

Jenny Chadwick

Before relocating to Cape Town, Jenny Chadwick lived in Johannesburg and worked in corporate communications, and played music in various bands. After moving to Cape Town in 2006, they began teaching beginners at a pottery studio in Noordhoek. Jenny then spent a year in Holland and joined a pottery studio in Amsterdam, and participated in various ceramic workshops. Upon returning to Cape Town, they established Kommetjie Ceramics.

Jenny’s studio is a creative space where they produce pit-fired polished vessels, functional ware, sculptures, and other ceramic pieces, ranging from playful to serious, for galleries and the Ceramics SA Western Cape region Potters’ Markets and exhibitions. As well as working in and maintaining their studio, Jenny runs two potters classes a week and enjoys sharing the space with students.

Jenny’s involvement with Ceramics Southern Africa in the Western Cape region has been both supportive and inspiring. Through Potters’ Markets, regional and national exhibitions, and the potter and ceramicist collective, they have developed their craft and gained valuable experience. In addition to managing the social media platforms for Ceramics SA Western Cape, Jenny was re-elected as chair at the AGM in February 2024 for a third term in the position.
