Meet the Artist

Working with the forms and patterns of natural phenomena, Jane Eppel creates detailed etchings that allude to both the micro and the macro. Whether depicting the knotted twigs of a bird’s nest, a spider’s web, the pitted surface of the moon, or a galaxy of stars, her work pays homage to the idea of interconnectedness, reflecting the notion that all things are joined together in the mesh of existence.
Eppel has held various solo exhibitions in 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2017 and has participated in numerous group shows both locally and internationally, including in London and New York. Her work is held in many collections in South Africa and abroad.
She graduated with a degree in Printmaking from the University of Cape Town in 2001. Her career has followed a circuitous route, encompassing not only printmaking but also oil painting, running a business with her husband, fellow Open Studio artist Nic Bladen, and engaging in various other creative business collaborations.
