Michelle van Reenen is a painter with a background in graphic design and creative direction. After many years running a design studio, she now balances her painting practice with overseeing a creative company that produces textiles and surface designs. Working from her Heron Park studio, she continues to develop a visual language rooted in colour and memory.

Currently, she is using acrylics to paint landscapes, portraits, and abstracts on discarded materials such as MDF offcuts. Her process involves layering and erasure, using an elliptical sander and Dremel tool to uncover hidden textures. Colour functions as psychology in her work, while painting itself serves as a therapeutic medium — an act of remembering, revealing, and transforming.
